Lucas Lovejoy pulls away from Greenville Lady Lions

  Lucas Lovejoy converted 18 hits, four walks and three errors into a 21-6 District 13-4A softball victory over Greenville on Tuesday.

  Amanda Conner and Emily Weichel both rang up four hits for Lovejoy, while Autumn Keefer drove in four runs.

  Megan Shaw drove in two runs for Greenville. Ali Threndyle had an RBI for the Lady Lions as did Kaitlyne McNair.

  “We had a great inning in the third,” said Greenville coach Blanca Saavedra. “We can’t dig ourselves a hole.”

  Greenville’s best inning was the third as the Lions scored four runs on five walks and a hit batter.

  Lovejoy tallied eight runs on six hits in the first inning and eight runs in the seventh inning.

  Lovejoy won the junior varsity game, 20-3.

  Greenville is now 1-7 in district and travels to Royse City for a 6:30 p.m. makeup game today with the Lady Bulldogs.

Campbell (girls) 2

  WOLFE CITY — Shelby Greenway drove in four runs to spark the Wolfe City Lady Wolves to a 12-2 District 15-A softball win over Campbell on Tuesday.

  Savannah Richardson also had two hits for Wolfe City, while Cheyenne Lake struck out nine Campbell batters.

  Kaylin Stigall and Jessica DeGarso scored for Campbell.

  MERIT — Wolfe City improved its District 15-A baseball record to 6-1 with a 4-2 victory on Tuesday over Bland.

  Dawson Caldwell, who picked up the mound win, struck out eight.

  Trenton Turney paced Wolfe City at the plate with four hits, including a double and a triple.

  Brayton Godwin struck out seven for Bland and had two hits at the plate.

  MERIT — Blue Ridge handed the Bland Lady Tigers their first District 15-A softball loss, 16-9 on Tuesday.

  Megan Pope led the victors with four hits.

  Morgen Gann rang up three hits for Bland, including a double. Bailey Robichaux homered.

  Bland dropped to 4-1 in district play.

  CELESTE — Trenton stayed undefeated in District 16-A baseball with a 14-1 win on Tuesday over Celeste.

  Micah McCaslin, Colton Smith and Nathan Butcher managed Celeste’s three hits off Trenton hurler Garrett Puyear.

  Cody Lambright slugged four hits, including three doubles, to lead the victors.
