Greenville Lions, Lady Lions drop games in Sherman

SHERMAN —   Sherman jumped out to a 26-3 lead and then rolled to a 94-28 District 13-4A victory over the Greenville Lady Lions on Friday night.

Sherman upped its 13-4A record to 5-2 while the Lady Lions dropped to 2-5 in district play.

  “They’re so athletic, quick,” Greenville coach Lesa Darst said of the Lady Bearcats.

Jayzhia Softly led the victors with 30 points, while Sa’Liesha Hunter dropped in 24 and L’Lyn Wash added 18.

  Savannah Himes pumped in 10 points to lead the Lady Lions.

Greenville 63

  SHERMAN —  The Sherman Bearcats won 68-63 over the Greenville Lions Friday at Bearcat Gym.

Justin Wade fired in 13 to lead Greenville, while Collen Wilburn added 12 and D’erren Wilson 10.

  “We played pretty good defense tonight,” said Greenville coach Marcus Smith. “But we made crucial turnovers at the end of the game.”

  Greenville is now 11-7, 3-2 in district.

  The Lions travel to Royse City Tuesday to take on the Bulldogs.

Rains 44

  QUINLAN — No. 18 state-ranked Quinlan Ford stayed undefeated in District 14-3A girls with a 60-44 win on Friday over Rains.

  Jesseca Keeton led the 19-4 Lady Panthers with 21 points, while Carley Torbert pumped in 13 and   Courtney Hall added 12. Ford is now 3-0 in district play.

Charlotte Bradshaw led Rains with 12 points.

  Rockwall Christian Academy slipped past Greenville Christian School 32-30 in overtime on Friday in the Eagles Nest.

  Ryan Gafford led Rockwall Christian and all scorers with 23 points.

  Will Martens topped GCS with 10 points.

  MERIT — Sara Waidelich’s double-double helped Bland’s Lady Tigers claim a 43-35 District 15-A victory over Celeste on Friday.

  Waidelich finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

  Jalisa Phillips led Celeste with 18 points.

  CADDO MILLS — Leonard’s Lady Tigers squared their District 12-2A record at 3-3 with a 72-37 victory over Caddo Mills on Friday.

  Kimmy Blackburn of Leonard led all scorers with 27 points and teammate Malena Farber added 15.

  Kristin Newell led Caddo Mills with 11 points.

  The Greenville Christian School Lady Eagles won 24-10 over Rockwall Christian Academy Friday at   GCS Gym.

  Lynsie Brown and Meaghan Brown each tallied eight points to lead the Lady Eagles. Meaghan Brown also managed nine rebounds, six steals and three assists. Lynsie Brown had 13 rebounds.

  Shelby Hauser pulled down 14 rebounds for GCS for which is now 1-1 overall, and 1-0 in district.

  The Lady Eagles travel to East Texas Christian Academy for a Tuesday game in Tyler.

  CAMPBELL — Diego Romero fired in 15 points  as the Campbell Indians downed Trinidad 58-25 on Friday in District 23-A play.

  Chris Wilson added 10 for Campbell and Bailey Ferguson tallied nine.

  CAMPBELL — The No. 14 state-ranked Campbell Lady Indians rolled to a 79-30 victory over Trinidad Friday as Jordan Davidson fired in 22 points to lead the Lady Indians.

  Sarah Taylor tallied 13 points, Caitlyn Branton 12 and Taylor Looney had 11 for Campbell, which improved to 18-3 for the season and 3-0 in district play.

  CADDO MILLS — The Leonard Tigers won 88-71 over the Caddo Mills Foxes Friday as Laine Albert fired in 23 points to lead Leonard.

  Jonathan St. George pumped in 12 for the Tigers, while Justin Bennett and Joe Gray added nine.

  Johnny Gillispie and D.K. Ward each fired in 15 points to lead Caddo Mills.
