Royse City lost two fumbles and one interception, helping pave the way for the undefeated Prestonwood Christian Lions Friday night in a 44-7 victory over the Bulldogs.
Prestonwood opened up the scoring with a 34-yard interception return for a touchdown by Michael Roach.
Royse City responded with a 70-yard drive and capped it off with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Watts to Bryce Wempa. Chance Selby’s PAT was good.
Then Prestonwood Christian’s Grayson Warren scored on a 10-yard run and the kick was good, making it 14-7 to end the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Warren ran 24 yards for a touchdown, and the Lions went on to make a 27-yard field goal, to make the half score 24-7, Prestonwood.
The third quarter’s lone score was Lion Mickey Mitchell running in from four yards.
The Lions struck twice in the fourth, the first by Warren, on a 1-yard touchdown plunge. J.P. Coward ran in the final touchdown score of the night from six yards out. The Lions made all PATs except the final one.
The games’ leading rusher was Warren, with 245 yards on 35 carries and three touchdowns.
Royse City is 0-3, and will not play until the Bulldogs entertain Greenville on Sept. 28.
Prestonwood Christian is 3-0.
