Raccoons take charge to beat Lions, 80-45

By BRENT LYDAY
Herald-Banner Staff

GREENVILLE The Frisco Raccoons jumped out to an early lead and kept the pressure on Greenville throughout the game to defeat the Lions, 80-45, on Tuesday night.

Casey Cheshier scored 12 points in the opening session to help the Raccoons leap to a 23-8 first quarter advantage. Greenville halted a Frisco 8-0 run with a free throw, but the Lions were unable to earn a field goal until the 1:30 mark.

Spencer Barrett tried to spark the Lions back into the ball game nailing four 3-pointers in the second, but seven Raccoons put points on the board to extend the Frisco lead to 44-24 at the half.

The stingy Raccoons forced multiple turnovers and controlled the paint during the first half. Tyler Cutren nailed Frisco’s first three just before the halftime break.

Cheshier picked it back up in the third dropping in 13 of his 27 points in quarter.

Frisco stretched its lead to 75-34 with two steals and buckets from Cutren and Cody Cheshier to open the fourth.

Barrett continued his hot shooting from beyond the arc in the last quarter nailing three 3-pointers to finish the game with a team-high 21 points.

Corey Bosworth followed with seven points for the Lions.

Cutren joined Cheshier in double figures with 10.

Greenville will play next on Thursday in the Quinlan Ford tournament.
