Several Lone Oak players to miss game

By DAVID CLAYBOURN
Herald-Banner Staff

LONE OAK Several Lone Oak football players will be missing from the lineup for tonight’s big District 13-2A showdown with Caddo Mills after testing positive in a recent random drug test.

“We did have some positive tests,” said Eddie White, superintendent of the Lone Oak Independent School District.

White would not say how many players were involved.

The Lone Oak ISD’s drug policy calls for a 30-day suspension from extracurricular activities for the first confirmed positive test.

“I’m hoping out of this there will be some positive things,” said White.

The Buffaloes, who are 8-1 for the season, are alone in first place in District 13-2A with a 6-0 record. Caddo Mills is tied with Winnsboro for second place at 5-1.

If Caddo Mills beats Lone Oak and Winnsboro beats Quitman the district will end up in a three-way tie for first place for the second straight year.

Lone Oak beat Como-Pickton 47-14 last Friday without the suspended players.
