Shadell earns all-district first team volleyball honors

Jennifer Shadell, who led Greenville Christian School at the net, was the only Lady Eagle named to the first team on the TAPPS District 3-3A Volleyball Team as selected by the league’s coaches.
Shadell, a 5-11 sophomore, led the Lady Eagles in kills and blocks for most of the games this season.
GCS put three players on the second team including junior setter-outside hitter Laura Stuart, junior middle blocker Sara Nelson and senior setter-outside hitter Lauren Blakemore.
GCS seniors Kelsey Gilmer, Alex Erickson and Jourdan Sullivan were named to the honorable mention list along with junior Melissa Roszhart.
Roszhart was also selected to the district’s sportsmanship team.
Tiffany Firebaugh of Prince of Peace of Carrollton was named most valuable player in the district.
Amanda Lee from Grand Prairie Shady Grove captured the offensive player of the year award and Rhea Bermel from Prince of Peace claimed the top award on defense.
