Caddo Mills, Lone Oak set for showdown

Caddo Mills 39, Quitman 0

QUITMAN — On crisp Friday night in Quitman, the Caddo Mills Foxes prevailed 39-0 to break a second-place logjam with the Bulldogs in District 13-2A.

The Caddo Mills defense led by Quintais Rector forced five first-half punts by Quitman.



Lone Oak 47, Como-Pickton 14

LONE OAK – For the Lone Oak seniors, Friday was a special night. All were recognized prior to the game for their contributions to the team, and all were determined to make sure their final home game ended in victory.

The 8-1 Buffs stomped the 1-8 Como-Pickton Eagles 47-14 and remained all alone atop the District 13-2A standings going into their final regular season game next week against Caddo Mills.



Boles 74, Fruitvale 0

QUINLAN — The No. 2 state-ranked Boles Hornets cruised to a 74-0 victory over Fruitvale’s Bobcats at Kevin Kiper Memorial Stadium on Friday night.

With the win the Hornets are now 9-0 for the year. Fruitvale dropped to 1-8.



Farmersville 43, Quinlan Ford 26

FARMERSVILLE — Senior running back Chase Wiggins led a formidable Farmersville ground attack with 163 yards on 19 carries, scoring four touchdowns in a 43-26 victory over Quinlan Ford on Friday night.

Wiggins’ final run of the night covered 89 yards and sealed the win.



Dallas Gateway 18, Celeste 14

DALLAS — Two lost fumbles and an interception cost the Celeste Blue Devils in an 18-14 football loss to Dallas Gateway on Friday night.

Celeste led 7-6 at halftime after Joey Brock ran one yard for a touchdown and Jose Amaro booted the extra point.



Leonard 14, How 12

HOWE — Leonard’s Tigers stayed in the running for a playoff berth in District 11-2A football with a 14-12 victory over Howe on a muddy Bulldog Stadium field on Friday night.

Howe scored first on a 10-yard touchdown pass but missed the extra point.



Wolfe City 35, Cumby 21

CUMBY — Wolfe City capitalized on six Cumby turnovers — two fumbles and four interceptions — to win Friday night’s District 14-A contest, 35-21.

Wolfe City, now 5-4 overall, stayed undefeated in district play at 4-0, setting up a big game at home on Friday against No. 2 state-ranked Boles.

Cumby dropped to 5-4 and 2-2.



Saint Jo 71, Greenville Phoenix 6

Saint Jo handed the Greenville Phoenix Firebirds a 71-6 loss in six-man football on Saturday at the Firebirds’ new field.

Demontre Washington ran 30 yards for the Firebirds’ only touchdown.



Princeton 46, Rains 32

EMORY — In a marathon match that lasted more than 3 1/2 hours, the Princeton Panthers defeated the Rains Wildcats, 46-32 in District 13-3A football on Friday night.

The two squads traded scores until midway in the third quarter when Princeton finally pulled away.



Newman Smith 55, Royse City 17

ROYSE CITY — Turnovers. A bad word in football.

But that was the word most closely associated to the game between Royse City and Carrollton Newman Smith.

The turnovers were often and many for Royse City as Newman Smith secured its first playoff spot in 26 years with a 55-17 thumping of the Royse City Bulldogs.
