Lady Hawks spoil 'Senior Night' for Lady Lions

GREENVILLE —
The Rockwall-Heath Lady Hawks spoiled Senior Night for the Greenville Lady Lions on Tuesday at the Lions Den, defeating them 25-14, 25-20, 25-19 in District 10-4A volleyball.
Rockwall-Heath raised its records to 25-14, 8-4 in district.
The Lady Hawks of coach Maggie Unger picked up 22 assists from Morgan Hawkins, while Ashley McClintic led the Lady Hawks in blocks with five and Caley Carpenter put away a team-high 11 kills.
The Lady Lions of coach JoAnna Vaden collected five kills apiece from Morgan Bloyed and Emelie Kilgore. Meghan Litchfield added four kills for Greenville and Maygan Bloyed tallied three.
Kilgore and Ashley Abbott had three blocks each for the Lady Lions and Litchfield added two.
Shanterria Riley paced the Lady Lions in digs with 12. Heather Johnson tallied six, while Litchfield got four.
Morgan Bloyed topped the Lady Lions in assists with 16 and Litchfield added three.
The visitors took the first game convincingly.
Greenville put up a tougher battle in the second game, getting within two points a couple of times at 10-8, 11-9, and 12-10 only to have the Lady Hawks, led by Carpenter, go on a roll to lead 18-13. The Lady Lions closed to within 21-17, but could get no closer.
Greenville led game three at 3-2 and 4-3. Rockwall-Heath pulled up into a 6-6 tie before pulling away.
The Lady Lions honored seniors Jessica Bailey, Morgan Bloyed, Meghan Litchfield, Hannah Johnson, Heather Johnson and Erika Patterson in pre-game ceremonies for their last home match of the 2009 season.
Greenville won the freshman A match, 25-18, 25-21.
Rockwall-Heath claimed the freshman B match, 27-25, 27-15, and the junior varsity contest, 25-20, 25-15.
