Lone Oak downs Cooper, 29-21, for homecoming win

Lone Oak 29, Cooper 21

LONE OAK — The Lone Oak Buffaloes crowned Jessica Lynch as their homecoming queen on Friday night, and then gave the homecoming crowd a 29-21 victory over the Cooper Bulldogs.

The win keeps the Buffaloes undefeated in District 13-2A at 4-0. Cooper dropped to 3-4 for the season.

Cooper Jones, who had 245 yards of total offense t, drove the Buffs 63 yards on the their opening drive and scored on an 8-yard run. Micha Cano was good on the PAT, which gave the Buffs a 7-0 lead with 9:17 left in the first.



Wolfe City 62, Fruitvale 8

FRUITVALE — Wolfe City stayed perfect in District 14-A football with a 62-8 pasting of Fruitvale on Friday night.

Quarterback Colt Herron passed for touchdowns of 60 and 20 yards to receivers Darrius Brown and Caleb Fuller.

Brown also scored on runs of 20 and two yards.



Cumby 37, Dallas Gateway 0

DALLAS — Cumby’s defense forced six turnovers as the Trojans blanked Dallas Gateway 37-0 in District 14-A football on Friday night.

The 5-2 Trojans stayed undefeated in district play at 2-0 while Gateway remained winless for the season (0-7) and in district play (0-2).

C.J. Ringenberg led the Trojan defense with two interceptions. Taylor Gay, Timmy Cook and Brandon Heer also intercepted passes and Steven Colley recovered a fumble.



Lucas Lovehjoy 42, Quinlan Ford 19

LUCAS — Lucas Lovejoy’s Leopards broke open a close game in the third quarter by marching the length of the field on their opening drive to increase their 20-13 halftime lead and went on to a 42-19 victory on homecoming.

Lovejoy scored first after an early interception which was returned to the Quinlan Ford 10-yard line. Two runs by quarterback Michael Means resulted in the touchdown but the two-point attempt failed.



Gunter 27, Leonard 13

LEONARD — Gunter (7-0, 4-0) and Leonard (5-2, 2-2) played power football all night, but the Tigers were done in by three turnovers in a 27-13 loss.

Gunter’s Chad Tucker scored twice on short runs in the first half, one in the first quarter and once in the second to build a 14-0 lead over the Leonard Tigers.



Boles 41, Celeste 0

QUINLAN — The No. 2 state-ranked Boles Hornets ran their record to 7-0 with a 41-0 victory over the Celeste Blue Devils on Friday night at Kevin Kiper Memorial Stadium.

Boles scored on its first possession, marching 56 yards after a big kickoff return. Quarterback Kailob Wallace dashed 46 yards for the touchdown with 10:33 left in the first quarter. Andy Allen drilled the extra point and Boles was in front 7-0.



Farmersville 36, Rains 12

EMORY — The Farmersville Fightin’ Farmers spoiled the Rains Wildcats’ homecoming Friday night with a 36-12 victory.

Farmersville (4-3, 2-0) started fast, scoring on a 42-yard run by Morgan Harbison with 10:29 left in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.



Rockwall-Heath 31, Royse City 24

ROCKWALL — The Royse City Bulldogs are a very young football club, they have struggled to put numbers in the win column this year, but they have never quit on the football field.

Facing a highly-ranked, high octane Rockwall Heath Hawk (4-1, 6-1) football team on their homecoming, the Bulldogs were again considered the underdog. With the cards stacked against them, they nearly pulled off the big win they needed.



Commerce 42, Bonham 6

COMMERCE — The Commerce Tigers finally put it all together and crushed their old rivals, the Bonham Purple Warriors 42-6 in district action.

Commerce (1-6, 1-1) dominated from the opening play and had no resemblance to the team that had lost its first six games of the year. The Tigers even ditched their spread offense and ran out of the I-formation for most of the game.
