Denton Calvary defeats GCS, 59-14

Herald-Banner Staff

DENTON Denton Calvary started the scoring early and never looked back, defeating the Greenville Christian School Eagles, 59-14, in a six-man matchup on Friday night.

“I did not have the team prepared well enough on offense, defense and in the kicking game,” said Eagles’ head coach Larry Uland. “Denton Calvary out-did us in all three phases.”

Lawson Flowers led the Eagles through the air with 84 yards passing, two touchdowns and one interception.

Lanny Jones caught a 51-yard touchdown reception for the Eagles first score. Chris Valenzuela followed with a 33-yard touchdown for the Eagles’ final score.

GCS falls to 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in district play. Denton Calvary, which had topped the 80-point mark in each of its three previous games, is now 5-1.

“We are looking forward to getting something right and going on from here and seeing if we can get back in the hunt,” said Uland.
