Cumby sweeps North Hopkins in volleyball

CUMBY — Cumby swept North Hopkins, 25-10, 25-20, 25-9, to up its season volleyball record to 17-5 on Tuesday.

Kailee Sartin served for nine points to lead the Lady Trojans, who also picked up seven points from Brittany Seely, six each from Laura Oviedo and Demi Newsom, five from Valerie Partridge, four each from Savanah Neal, Ashley Anderson and Alisa Colley, three from Rebecca Prather and one from Courtney Crumpton.

Neal led Cumby in kills with five and in assists with eight.

Seely set for three assists.

Sartin and Partridge both added two kills.

Cumby plays again at home on Saturday against Greenville Phoenix, starting at 1 p.m.

Cumby’s junior varsity-freshman team lost to North Hopkins, 25-23, 25-16.

Breanna Gay and Molly Nance both topped Cumby with five points, while Kayla Akers and Brianna Wilson both added three points. Gay led in kills with two.
