Rains, Cumby win volleyball matches

EMORY — Rains swept Royse City in three games to up its season volleyball record to 9-3 on Tuesday night.

Rains won 25-18, 25-16, 25-12.

Torie Talkington led the victorious Lady Wildcats with nine kills, two blocks and nine aces.

Chelsee Hudson put away eight kills and had four blocks and three aces for Rains and Marlee Canada set for eight assists.

Rains plays again on Thursday in the Tyler Invitational Tournament. --Reported by Trey Hill



CUMBY — Cumby outlasted Trenton 25-11, 24-26, 25-18, 25-15 in volleyball action on Tuesday night.

Ashley Anderson served for a team-high 18 points and two aces for Cumby.

Kailee Sartin served for 12 points for Cumby.

Valerie Partridge added 10 points, two kills, two assists and six digs.

Savanah Neal managed seven points, six kills, nine assists and two digs for Cumby.

Laura Oviedo contributed six kills and three digs.

Cumby, now 8-4, entertains Quinlan Ford at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Cumby claimed the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-20.

Alisa Colley and Kayla Ackers both led Cumby with six points. Colley managed two kills and Ackers set for four assists. Molly Martin added four points and three assists.

Cumby claimed the freshman contest, 25-12, 25-4.

Breanna Gay topped Cumby with 13 points and two aces. Briana Wilson added 10 points and Rikki Townsend served for seven points.
