Trevor White and Dylan Brown combined for the shutout as the Greenville All-Stars advanced to today’s Pony Division championship game at the Pony Directors baseball tournament.
White pitched three scoreless innings and Brown threw a scoreless fourth as Greenville won 12-0 over Whitesboro in semifinal action on Friday night in the division for 14-and-under players.
The Greenville All-Stars advanced to today’s 11 a.m. championship game at the Greenville SportsPark’s Maroon Field. They’ll play either Sachse or East Fork, who battled in the late game on Friday night.
Brown led Greenville at the plate with a two-run double.
Greenville, which is made up of players from the Greenville Mustangs and Lone Oak Dirtbags, is 4-0 in the tournament, including pool play wins of 6-3 over Sachse, 9-1 over Whitesboro and 9-4 over East Fork.
In the Bronco Division, the Greenville All-Stars bounced back from a 17-1 loss to East Fork on Thursday to whip the Quinlan Panthers 12-2 in pool play on Friday night. Jacob Jarvis and Andrew Nichols shared the mound duties for Greenville as both pitchers struck out three batters in two innings.
Four Greenville batters managed two hits in the game including Jeffrey May, Travis Koger, David Weaks and Jarvis, who tripled and drove in three runs. Koger doubled and drove in two runs and May drove in one run.
Play continues in the Bronco Division (12-and-under) with semifinals at 9 and 11 a.m. this morning and the championship game at 2 p.m. at the SportsPark’s Orange Field.
The Greenville Blaze handed the East Fork All-Stars their first loss in the Mustang Division (10-and-under). The Blaze won 9-4 after collecting triples from Seth Stephens, Thorn Pickens and Austin Heatherly. The Blaze is also 2-1 in pool play, including a 6-5 win over Kaufman and a 7-6 loss to Scurry. East Fork has beaten Rowlett 12-8 and Kaufman 8-6.
Rowlett downed Scurry 9-4 in another Mustang pool play game on Friday.
The Mustang Division’s semifinals are at 9 a.m. at the SportsPark’s Blue and Red fields, with the championship game set for 11:30 a.m.
The Texas Sports Black outscored the East Fork All-Stars 19-9 in Pinto (8-and-under) play on Friday.
Sachse trimmed Texas Sport 18-17 in the late game on Thursday night.
The Pinto semifinals are at 9 and 10:45 a.m. on the SportsPark’s Green Field, with the championship game planned for 2 p.m.
