GCS, Brook Hill claim majority of district honors

GREENVILLE — For nine straight years the Greenville Christian School Eagles have made it into the TAPPS baseball playoffs.

Six Eagles who’ve been a part of that success have been recognized on the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ All-District 3-3A Baseball Team’s first team.

Sophomore catcher-pitcher Jake Schumann headed up the list of first-team Eagles that also included junior shortstop Brandon Fauley, senior second baseman Kyle Rook, junior pitcher-first baseman Josh Rook, junior centerfielder Blake Caspari and freshman right fielder Tanner Barnes.

Four Eagles earned second-team honors, including senior third baseman Brock Dumdei, senior first baseman-catcher Kurt Jones, junior left fielder Jordan Henderson and freshman left fielder-second baseman Andrew Wombaker.

Barnes of GCS earned freshman of the year honors for the district.

Fauley and Schumann of GCS made the sportsmanship team.

Bullard Brook Hill, the district champion, grabbed nine spots on the first team and three on the second team.
