5K, one-mile run part of Caddo Mills festival

CADDO MILLS It’s the first Saturday in May and time once again for the Caddo Mills Fox Trot 5K race which is part of the Fox Fest Celebration.

The 14th Annual Fox Trot 5K is set for 8 a.m. today at the Caddo Mills town square with a one-mile fun run to follow at 9 a.m.

Lone Oak High School runner Jacob Bradley won last year’s race in the time of 19 minutes and 16 seconds as Jason Roszhart of Greenville was second at 19:28.

The third-place finisher, J.J. Jenkins of Garland, also won the men’s master’s title with a 19:38.

Maya Jackson was the first female finisher last year with a 23:33 and Cindy Thomas was the women’s masters champion at 28:04.

Last year’s race also featured a couple of father-son and father-daughter winning combinations.

Clint Scribner, a former champion distance runner from Leonard, won the men’s 30-34 age division with a 25:04 time. His son Luke Scribner, who was a Farmersville seventh grader, won the male’s 14-and-under division at 21:30.

Royse City police chief Tom Shelton won the men’s 55-59 division with a 23:16 time while daughter Sarah Shelton claimed the 14-and-under female division at 24:58.
