ROCKWALL — Rita Haldeman, the Herald-Banner's advertising director, shares this Haluski recipe.
1 head cabbage
1 lb of loose sausage
1 1/2 cups egg noodles
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
4 tablespoons butter or 4 tablespoons margarine
Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Cook noodles according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
Brown loose sausage and set aside.
Melt butter and sauté onions until clear.
Add cabbage, cover and cook down.
Add sausage and egg noodles.
Mix all ingredients together
Salt and pepper to taste
Place in a crock pot to keep warm
*For a simple side dish, eliminate the sausage.
