Drug, firearms charges filed from arrest in Merit

The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the filing of multiple charges in connection with a reported incident in Merit early Tuesday morning.

An arrest was reported in connection with charges of possession of between one and four grams of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous drug, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest/search/transport, in the 2600 block of Lake in Merit between 4:02 and 4:35 a.m. Tuesday. Jeremy E. Mullins, 34, of Terrell, was taken into custody following a traffic stop and was transported to the Hunt County Jail where he was arraigned and booked in to the jail in lieu of a total of $34,000 bond.

An arrest was also reported in connection with charges of possession of less than one gram of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous drug at the 94 mile-marker on westbound Interstate 30 between 2:20 and 2:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Two incidents of assault/family violence were reported to have occurred at a residence on County Road 2726 between 8:30 and 8:51 p.m. Sunday.

An assault causing bodily injury/family was reported to have occurred at a residence on Flower Street between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Sunday.

An assault causing bodily injury/family was reported to have occurred at a residence on County Road 2293 between 6:10 and 6:20 p.m. Tuesday.

A theft was reported to have occurred on Ole Wagon Road between Oct. 13 and 3 p.m. Tuesday.

A theft of a riding mower was reported to have occurred on County Road 2424 between 4 p.m. Sept. 6 and 5:08 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to 96 calls Tuesday, took six people into custody and filed 12 reports.

Of those people taken into custody, two were arrested for outstanding warrants and one person each was arrested for driving while license suspended/invalid, disorderly conduct, theft/outstanding warrant and obscured license plate with expired motor vehicle registration.

On Tuesday, police made arrests for family violence and burglary, among other charges.

Officers were dispatched to 87 calls Monday, took four people into custody and filed 17 reports.

Of those taken into custody, one person each was arrested for assault/family violence, burglary of a building, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.





Courts

District Court

— Bart Russell Thomas, 50, Quinlan, forfeited bond on a motion to revoke probation on a charge of evading arrest. A warrant was ordered for Thomas’ arrest and new bond was not set.

— Truett Lee McGarity, 50, Commerce, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of attempted possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to four days in the Hunt County Jail.

— Jacob Angelo Alcaraz, 30, Dallas, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of felony DWI and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

— Sasha Diane Shaw, 21, Wichita, Kan., entered a plea of guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to five years in prison.
