Multiple motorists arrested in Greenville during weekend

Lots of people had problems driving in Greenville during this past weekend, judging by the number of arrests related to motor vehicles reported by the Greenville Police Department.

Multiple motorists were taken into custody for either not having a valid license, driving while intoxicated or leaving the scene of an accident.

One man was also arrested Friday for crying wolf.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to 281 calls between Friday morning and Sunday night, made 25 arrests and filed 51 reports.

Of those people taken into custody, five were arrested for driving while license suspended/invalid and one each for failure to stop and render aid and DWI.

Nine people were arrested for outstanding warrants, two for theft, two for possession of marijuana and one person each was arrested for assault/family violence, possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.

An 18-year-old Greenville man was arrested at around 9 a.m. Friday for making false alarm/report.



Courts

District Court

— Richard Malcolm Almon entered a plea of guilty to a charge of indecency with a child and was placed on 10 years of probation with sex offender terms, 90 days in the Hunt County Jail and 120 hours of community service.

— Eddie Harold Cox Jr., 53, Commerce, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle and was sentenced to nine months in a state jail.
