Enforcement against outstanding warrants begins

By BRAD KELLAR
Herald-Banner Staff

Officers with the Greenville Police Department began stepping up enforcement against outstanding warrants Tuesday.

A dozen total arrests were reported between Tuesday morning and noon Wednesday, with at least nine people being taken into custody on outstanding warrants. A two-week amnesty period, which would have allowed those without outstanding warrants to pay off overdue fines without fear of arrest, ended this past weekend.

Other arrests during the period included a 53-year-old Greenville man, taken into custody Tuesday night on charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. One person each was also arrested for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.

Courts

District Court

— Danny Joe Brown, 45, Greenville, had probation on a charge of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information revoked and was sentenced to one year in a state jail.

— Roger Guerra Jaime, 53, San Antonio, had probation on a charge of possession of marijuana revoked and was sentenced to four years in prison.

— Beth Holden Wilkes, 65, Caddo Mills, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of felony DWI and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
