Long Labor Day weekend for law enforcement

Labor Day was no holiday for local law enforcement.
Officers with the Greenville Police Department reported making 19 arrests during the four-day weekend, while one person was injured in an aggravated assault which was reported to the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office.
Greenville Police Department officers were dispatched to 390 calls and filed 88 reports between Friday morning and Monday night. Eight people were arrested for outstanding warrants, three for public intoxication, two for driving while license suspended and one each for possession of a controlled substance, assault/family violence, possession of marijuana/evading arrest/driving while license suspended, no driver’s license and failure to identify as a fugitive from justice.
The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an aggravated assault occurring at a residence on Taylor Drive in Quinlan between 3:45 and 4 a.m. Friday. One person was reported to have received minor injuries.
An assault was reported Friday to have occurred at a residence on Private Road 2580 between 5 a.m. Aug. 29 and noon Aug. 30.
A burglary was reported to have occurred at a residence on FM 512 between 9:10 and 9:32 a.m. Friday.
A burglary was reported to have occurred at a residence onn County Road 3621 between 11 a.m. and noon Friday.
A trailer was reported to have been stolen from a residence on Bent Tree between 8 a.m. Friday and 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
A television was reported to have been stolen from a residence on Northshore between 7 a.m. Friday and 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Bottles of Freon were reported to have been stolen during a burglary of a residence on FM 1565 between 5 and 5:22 a.m. Sunday.
A burglary was reported to have occurred at a residence on Hillcrest between 6:40 and 6:50 p.m. Sunday.
Courts
District Court
— Larry Michael Mata, 20, Greenville, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of forgery and was placed on two years of deferred adjudication probation with 120 hours of community service.
— Kellie Nix English, 50, Greenville, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance and was placed on two years of deferred adjudication probation, with a $200 fine and 80 hours of community service.
— Jeffrey Dwayne Brookins, 25, Greenville, had probation on a charge of fleeing revoked and was sentenced to four months in the Hunt County Jail.
— Howard Junior Phifer, 43, Commerce, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of felony DWI and was placed on five years of deferred adjudication probation with 120 hours of community service.
