Police, sheriff’s office handle domestic assaults

It was reportedly a violent weekend in Hunt County, as police officers and sheriff’s deputies answered multiple calls of domestic assaults.

Two of the 14 arrests made by the Greenville Police Department during the weekend involved family violence-related assaults.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to 257 calls between Friday morning and Sunday night, and filed 58 reports.

A 23-year-old female, address unlisted, was taken into custody at around 11:45 a.m. Friday on one count each of assault/family violence and injury to a disabled individual causing bodily injury.

A 31-year-old male from Greenville was arrested Saturday on one count each of assault causing bodily injury/family violence and driving while intoxicated.

The other arrests reported in Greenville during the weekend included five for outstanding warrants, two each for driving while intoxicated and theft and one each for minor in possession of alcohol, possession of a controlled substance and no driver’s license.

Deputies with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of aggravated assault, involving a domestic dispute and weapons, which was reported to have occurred at the intersection of Verandah and Trellis Streets between 2 and 3:30 a.m. Monday.

A domestic assault was reported to have occurred at a residence on Bouncer Road between 9:24 and 10:05 p.m. Sunday. One arrest was reported.

A theft was reported to have occurred at a residence on Highway 34 South near Greenville between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday.

Thefts of a jet ski, a motorcycle and two chain saws were reported to have occurred on North Poetry Lane between 6 a.m. last Wednesday, Aug. 19 and 5:30 p.m. Friday.

A file cabinet, a saddle and a computer were reported to have been stolen from a residence on County Road 1067 between 6 a.m. Aug. 17 and 7:30 p.m. Friday.

A personal water craft was reported stolen from a residence on FM 6 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday.



Courts

— Johnny Wayne Foster, 46, Greenville, had probation on a charge of possession of a controlled substance revoked and was sentenced to six months in a state jail.
