Two arrested for family violence assaults

Two local residents have been taken into custody on charges of assault/family violence.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to 67 calls Wednesday, took seven people into custody and filed 15 reports.

Of those taken into custody, a 26-year-old Greenville man was arrested at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of assault causing bodily injury-family violence. A 23-year-old Greenville man was arrested at around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of assault causing bodily injury-family violence.

Other arrests included three people for outstanding warrants and two persons for theft.

District Court

— David Earl Newsome, 36, Greenville, had probation on a charge of felony theft revoked and was sentenced to two years in prison.
