Police make five arrests

Officers with the Greenville Police Department made two arrests early Monday morning for family violence-related assaults.

In all, officers were dispatched to 76 calls Monday, and filed 13 reports. There were five arrests listed. A 31-year-old Greenville man was taken into custody on a charge of assault causing bodily injury/family violence and a 36-year-old Greenville was arrested on a charge of assault/family violence, both at around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Other arrests included two people for outstanding warrants and one person for theft.



Courts

District Court

— Phillip Bryan Thompson, 44, Royse City, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of assault/family violence with one or more prior convictions and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

— C. L. Anderson Jr., 54, Greenville, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to six months in a state jail.

— Vanessa Ann Roberson, 31, Royse City, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance and was placed on three years of deferred adjudication probation with 120 hours of community service.
