On the Beats for July 31, 2009

The Greenville Police Department made eight arrests on Wednesday, most of them involving outstanding warrants.

Six people were arrested on warrants; one person was arrested for public intoxication; and one for possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers were dispatched to 91 calls and filed 18 reports.



COURT AT LAW NO. 1

— In State of Texas v. Patricia Renee Medina, the defendant entered a plea of guilty to the charge of Assault Causing Bodily Injury/Family Violence. The defendant was sentenced to 120 days in jail.

— In State of Texas v. Lee Wayne Mathis, the defendant entered a plea of guilty to the charge of Failure to Identify Fugitive from Justice. The defendant was sentenced to 100 days in jail.

— In State of Texas v. Edward Bernard Chisom, the defendant entered a plea of guilty to the charge of Driving While License Invalid. The defendant was sentenced to 100 days of jail.

— In State of Texas v. Jimmy Julius, the defendant entered a plea of guilty to the charge of Theft of Property by Check. The defendant was sentenced to 180 days in jail, probated for 18 months and ordered to pay court costs. The defendant was further ordered to pay restitution.
