On the beats: 13 in custody over weekend, multiple arrests for drugs reported

Officers with the Greenville Police Department made 13 arrests during the past weekend, with several people taken into custody on drug-related charges.

One person was also arrested for reportedly assaulting a public servant.

Hunt County Sheriff’s Deputies, meanwhile, have been responding to multiples theft, burglary and assault charges during the past few days.

Greenville officers were dispatched to 201 calls and filed 39 reports between Friday morning and Sunday night.

Three men — 22, 28 and 35 years of age, no addresses immediately available — were arrested early Sunday morning, each charged with possession of between five and 50 pounds of marijuana.

Three people were also arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Tammy Leanne Crouch, 38, of Greenville, was arrested Sunday evening on one count of assault against a public servant and outstanding warrants.

Three people were arrested for outstanding warrants during the weekend, two people were arrested for theft and one person was taken into custody on a charge of assault/family violence.

Deputies responded to a report of a theft of 20 feet of copper from a residence on Cedar Street near Quinlan between 5 a.m. July 10 and 8 a.m. Thursday.

A theft of 20 feet of copper was reported to have also occurred at a residence on Private Road 3845 between 5 a.m. July 10 and 8:29 a.m. Thursday.

At least two burglaries were reported burglarized in a pasture off of County Road 3609 between 10 a.m. July 2 and 9 a.m. Thursday.

A motorcycle and a paramedic bag with medical supplies were reported stolen from a residence on FM 903 between 5 a.m. last Wednesday and 5 p.m. Thursday.

Floor jacks and rakes were reported stolen from a residence on FM 2736 between March 15 and 4 p.m. Thursday.

Motor vehicle burglaries were reported Saturday to have occurred on Waters Edge between 7:30 a.m. June 30 and sometime last Wednesday.

An office building on Highway 276 East was reported burglarized at midnight Monday.

An assault was reported to have occurred at a residence on Private Road 3815 between 11:20 and 11:27 a.m. Thursday.

An assault/family violence was reported to have occurred at a residence on Private Road 2280 between 4:30 and 4:50 p.m. Thursday.

A terroristic threat, involving a firearm, was reported to have occurred at a residence on Fox Point Road between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Thursday.

An assault was reported to have occurred at a residence on East Interstate 30 between 8:45 and 8:55 p.m. Saturday.



Courts

District Court

— Lawrence Edward Edmond, 28, Texarkana, had probation on a charge of felony theft revoked and was sentenced to one year in a state jail.

— Benjamin John Travis Killian, 28, Greenville, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of felony theft and was placed on three years of deferred adjudication probation with 120 hours of community service.

— Roderick Darnell Rainey, 19, Louisville, Ky., entered a plea of guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana and was sentenced to 155 days in the Hunt County Jail.



Court-at-Law No. 2

— Thomas Melton Houston entered a plea of guilty to a charge of DWI and was placed on 18 months of probation with a $750 fine.

— Myron Scott McDaniel entered a plea of guilty to a charge of DWI and was placed on 18 months of probation with a $750 fine.

— Ronald Jason Rawlings entered a plea of guilty to a charge of assault causing bodilly injury/family violence and was placed on 12 months of deferred adjudication probation with a $200 fine.
