Marking another happy anniversary

Just sitting here, married to the most wonderful woman in the world ... period.

— As of today Vida, my wife and the Sensationally Supreme Superstar at the Estate, and I have been married for 19 years and they have been the best years of my life.

There are any number of reasons why I consider myself so fortunate to be married to Vida. First, she is as beautiful to me today as she was the day we met. She makes me laugh and the highlight of any of my days is when I can make her do the same.

Vida is a devoted mother and dedicates her energy to making sure our children — Nick, Jaylynn and Jason — and our granddaughters — Lauryn and Vanessa — have everything they need.

As I’ve mentioned many times before, Vida operates her own daycare business at the Kellar Estate, aided by her aunt Pam. Each of her weekdays is spent taking care of small children, driving some of the slightly larger children to school, spending more time taking care of the wee ones, picking up the slightly larger children from school to bring them back to the Estate and then riding herd on all of the collected craziness until it is time for all of the children to go to their own homes.

And yet, somehow Vida is still relatively sane when I manage to make it back to the Estate at night and is ready to start the whole cycle all over again the next morning.

Vida is responsible for getting me on Facebook and has me hooked on watching “Scandal” on Thursday nights. The latter is one of the highlights of our week, as we must watch it together, discussing each of the plot twists along the way.

Vida takes charge of buying presents for the kids, scheduling birthday parties and she still volunteers a lot of time for the Girl Scouts in Hunt County. She is deep in the arrangements for Thanksgiving and Christmas at the Estate, leaving me with little to do other than come home and marvel at all Vida is able to accomplish each day.

What I have brought to this partnership? Well, I can say I’m responsible for our family getting to go to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie each year ... and I currently have my wife addicted to Ruffles Queso Flavored Potato Chips ... yeah I think that about covers it.

As to how we intend to celebrate this momentous occasion, I am scheduled to do some serious grilling this morning, and then the wife and I plan on seeing the new “Thor” movie this afternoon. I cannot think of any other person with whom I would want to spend my Sunday, now or ever.

I have spent the past 19 years making sure I say “I love you” to this woman first thing when I see her in the morning (usually surrounded by a crowd of rambunctious toddlers) and that it is the last thing I say to her each night (usually as we are both drifting off to sleep.) I can only hope and pray I get the chance to continue to say it another 6,973 times (or likely more) during the next 19 years (or likely more).

Happy anniversary baby, and thank you for making my life complete ...

Just a thought ...
