Jeanette “Jan” Wilson Kirby, longtime resident of Greenville, passed away Oct. 28, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Garland.
She was born Nov. 18, 1939, in Miller Grove to Louise and Henry Wilson.
She will long be remembered for her beautiful smile and love of life. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, dancing, music, and cooking for family and friends.
Jan was generous with her time, talent, and treasure; and nothing pleased her more than helping others in need. She was a hard worker, rarely able to sit still, but always made time to spend with friends and family. Jan was a tireless caretaker for her late husband, showing a depth of compassion and care that is truly rare.
She was an active member of the First Pentecostal Church of God in Greenville, serving in several ministries.
Surviving are her daughters, Sherry Orman and husband Paul of Garland, Karen Sue Hare and husband Mark of Garland; her son, Scott and wife Lynne of Arlington; her sister, Gwen Bryant and husband Bill of Garland; her brother, Harold Wilson and wife Judy of Hunt; a sister-in-law, Lynda Wilson of Carrollton; grandchildren Ginger, Trey, and Misty Orman, Michelle Harris and husband Matthew, Tosha Hare, and Alex and Savannah Roland; an eagerly anticipated great-granddaughter expected in January; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kirby; her parents, Louise Bolen and Henry Wilson; her brother, Charles Wilson; and a granddaughter, Chelsea Jeanette.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home, 1600 S. Garland Ave., in Garland (75040).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the First Pentecostal Church of God parking lot fund, 2615 Walnut Street, in Greenville.
