Elephants are quiet
To the editor:
Quiet ... the Elephants are quiet ... concerning my challenge of a while back.
In my letter to the editor I mildly admonished those yelping about what the majority Democrats are doing and trying to do about health care reform and other issues that would benefit the multitudes.
In my letter I mentioned Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. I could have mentioned Wage and Hour Laws, EEOC, Equal Pay for Women, ERISA (pension protection) Fair Labor Practices, Child Labor Laws and the National Labor Relations Act, etc., etc., just to name a few more — all of which were initiated by the Democrats and strongly opposed by the Elephants.
Many of us “Too Old to Work - and Too Young to Die” remember “Who” initiated those programs of benefits and protections and depend on them for sustenance and to keep us alive in some cases.
Some, of course, are too young to have observed but can see the benefit to their elders.
Some are to biased to admit — while at he same time enjoying and participating in the benefits.
In my letter I challenged those critics (who are apparently supporting the Elephants in their opposition) to name “Just One” piece of legislation of that nature that was initiated by the Elephants when They were in the majority.
So far not a peep — not even a Low Muffled Trumpet. Baby mice couldn’t be quieter.
Well, maybe they're still searching — Huh — Huh — Huh???
And now low and behold, after all these years of proclaiming themselves to atop the Ecumenical Throne, they find themselves in disagreement with the Bible because it's too liberal. They want to make it more compatible with their political philosophy. Maybe Mr. Taylor would understand that or agree with it calling it a generalization. I don't. I just didn't know we had saints and disciples marching around up there in conservative garb.
Now if Mr. Taylor will back up and re-read he'll see that I specifically stated that I did not believe that “packing heat,” AK 47s, Hitler and Kill Obama signs were not a part of the Tea Group's Mission.
Mr. Taylor said I don't know much about conservatives. Well, in this letter I have elected (to some extent) what they are for and what they are against.
Those programs are not minute and I suspect you have participated and enjoyed the benefits of at least some of these programs. I'm sad that you don't appreciate how hard it was to overcome the opposition to these program by “You know who.”
You're not as sad as millions upon millions of our citizens would be without Social Security, etc., etc.. etc…. If G.W had had succeeded in dumping S.S. into the stock market jut before the Crash.... Which Newt Ginrich gleefully declared it would be the end of S.S. as we know it.
Mr. Taylor, these are not generalizations. They are specifics and facts.
Absurdity becomes undressed when an extremist’s fogged mind refuses to recognize that “packing heat,” shouldering AK47s and exhibiting Kill Obama signs is not indicative of a peacefully quiet intent to merely speak up in an atmosphere of tranquillity.
Will the world keep turning? Yes, because we all know who has his hand on that switch.
