Tressa Lee


— Mrs. Tressa M. Lee, 94, of Crockett passed away Dec. 7, 2012, in the Houston County Nursing Home. 

Mrs. Lee was born July 4, 1918, in Kenefic, Okla., to Simon and Ethel Phillips. She married Clay F. James in 1935. She moved from Antioch, Calif., in 1984 and remained in her home in Cumby until moving to Crockett in 2010.

Mrs. Lee was in Enchanted Pines and her daughter’s home until moving to Houston County Nursing Home June 2012. She has church family at Pentecostal Church in Cooper.

Mrs. Lee survived breast cancer in 1998 and was diabetic for more than 40 years. She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. Mrs. Lee loved the Lord and her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Melba and P.E. Hartline of Trinity and Zell and Robert Freeman of Magalia, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Franklin James; son Darrell James; an infant daughter, Peggy James; parents Simon and Ethel Phillips; six sisters and one brother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tressa M. Lee will be in Vallejo, Calif.

Family will receive friends Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home, 700 E. Houston Ave., in Crockett (75835, 936-544-2244).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive or Waters Edge Encampment, 605 E. Goliad Suite 100,  Crockett,   75835.
