John Childs

John Henry Childs, 71, of Caddo Mills died Oct. 9, 2013. His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Caddo Mills with Rev. Craig Duffey officiating. Burial will be in Grundy Memorial Park in Greenville with friends of the family serving as pallbearers.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home in Greenville.

He was born May 19, 1942, in Ora City to Edgar and Lenora Childs. He and his wife, Velora, were married Dec. 15, 1965, in Rockwall; she preceded him in death. He was a veteran and worked as a laborer.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Childs of Greenville and Victor Childs (Angela) of Greenville; three daughters, Betty Neal, Belinda Lewis (Wayne) and Vera Jeffery (Nathan), all of Caddo Mills; two sisters, Mollie Butler and Betty Duffey, both of Dallas; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

His parents, wife, six brothers and two children preceded him in death.
