Billy Fannin

LONE OAK —  Services for Billy Flem Fannin, 68, of Lone Oak are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Bull Creek Cowboy Church with Bro. Sam Calk, Bro. Danny Calk, and Bro. Eugene Green officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Valley Cemetery in Lone Oak under the direction of Bartley’s Lone Oak Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Fannin passed away April 1, 2014, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 15, 1946, in Lone Oak to the late Herman Thomas and Vida May Isham Fannin. He was a 1964 graduate of Lone Oak High School and was a lifelong resident of Lone Oak. He married Barbara Malone May 22, 1965, at Canes Chapel in West Tawakoni.

He worked for several years for Joe Gibson Ford in Greenville as an automotive technician and 33 years at L3 in Greenville.

 He served 40 years on the Lone Oak Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Hunt County Fire Fighters Association. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.   

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Fannin of Lone Oak; mother-in-law Dorothy Robinson of Lone Oak; a son, Chris Fannin and wife Jennifer of Lone Oak; daughter Kristi Fannin of Lone Oak; brother Wallace Fannin and wife Joyce of Mantecca, Calif.; sisters Charlene Vaughan of Belton and Doris Craighead and husband Kenneth of Wylie; grandchildren Samantha Calvert, Nicole Calvert, and Madi Ray Fannin; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bobby Fannin; a nephew, Chad Stotts; and father-in-law Lee Clark Robinson.

Pallbearers will be Terry Carpenter, Tommy Boyer, Clay Stotts, Larry Norton, Dean Fannin, Greg Elmore, Lance Bishop, and Cory Bishop.

Memorials may be made to Prairie Valley Cemetery Association,  P.O. Box 9273, Greenville, 75404.
