Melba Foster Jones, 100, of Cooper passed away March 24, 2014, at the Country Home Estates in Commerce. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church of Cooper. Rev. Steve Cook will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Delta Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jones was born in Delta County on Sept. 23, 1913, the daughter of Robert Russell Foster and Ella Cunningham Foster. She married William Alton Jones in Cooper on Oct. 4, 1931; he preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1992.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cooper.
She is survived by a son, Judd Jones of Argyle; six grandchildren, Andrea Jones, Jeff Jones and wife Wendy, Jennifer Jones and Wade Jones and wife Tiffany, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kerry Sue Overton-Smith in 2006; a brother, Clifton Foster; infant brothers, and three sisters, Bertha Wright, Clara Slough and Millie Lou Vaughn.
Memorials may be made to the First United Church of Cooper.
