Marjorie Pemberton

GREENVILLE — Marjorie Hart Pemberton, 93, of Greenville died May 1, 2014, at Oak Manor in Commerce. Her funeral service was in the Peter’s Funeral Home chapel in Greenville at 2 p.m. Monday

Brother Johnny Hailes officiated. Interment was at Forest Park Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were Aaron Hyden, Phillip Hyden, Ron Sims, Scott Heaney, Shawn Bentley, and Montana Holley.

Mrs. Pemberton was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Riley Springs, Hopkins County. She was the daughter of Samuel Nelson Hart and Tinnie Etier Hart. She graduated from Campbell High School in 1938. She was a Civil Service employee during WWII.

She retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Greenville. She was a longtime member of Park Street Baptist Church of Greenville and taught Sunday school for many years.

She was married to Charlie Pemberton in May of 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1987.

She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

She is survived by her son, James L. Pemberton and wife Theresa of Cumby; her daughter, Marie Hyden and husband Randy of Greenville; and grandchildren Megan Holley and husband Steven of Oklahoma, Mercy Sims and husband Ron of Miller Grove, Melody Heaney and husband Scott of Princeton, Margie Pemberton of Cumby, Mary Bentley and husband Shawn of Greenville, Phillip Hyden and wife Kandace of Greenville and Aaron Hyden and wife Mandy of Greenville. Survivors also include 16 great-grandchildren, one niece and three nephews.

Mrs. Pemberton was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, her parents, six sisters, two brothers and several nieces and nephews.

Mom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a good example of what a true Christian should be and led her life accordingly.
