McKinney — Annie Faye Woodson, 100, of Gober died May 16, 2013, in McKinney.

She was born Nov. 27, 1912, in Gober to J.J.  and Alma Carrie Tarver Smith. She married J.T. Woodson on Feb. 14, 1937, in Hugo, Okla.

Mrs. Woodson was a member of the First Christian Church and was a former school teacher at Gober and 3P. She retired from teaching after she married, because at the time female teachers were required to be single. Never a person was turned away from her door. She was never too busy to stop and listen to your problems or to rejoice with you in your joy. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you were unhappy she cheered you up. One hundred years was too soon to lose her.

Annie Faye is survived by her daughter, Caribeth Sutherland of Gober; son Larry Woodson and wife Mary of Van Alstyne; grandsons Tommy Sutherland, Timmy Sutherland, Tony Sutherland, J.T. Woodson, and Jess Woodson; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and sister Alene Brent of Gober.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Woodson; parents; three sisters and three brothers.

A funeral service is at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Gober with Brother Kevin Davis officiating. Interment will follow at the Gober Cemetery with Mrs. Woodson’s grandsons serving as pallbearers.

R.W. Owens and Son Funeral Home of Wolfe City is in charge of arrangements.
