LONE OAK — LONE OAK — Services for Walter Shannon Garner, 87, of Greenville, are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday at Weiland Church of Christ with Mr. Rick Henslee officiating. Burial will be in Donelton Cemetery, Lone Oak, under the direction of Bartley’s Lone Oak Funeral Home, Lone Oak.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Garner passed away May 17, 2013, in a Greenville nursing home.

He was born Oct. 29, 1925, in the Donelton Community to the late Bennie Shannon and Myrtus Oma Pickett Garner. He married Zelma Lee Barrow Jan. 1, 1965, in Dallas and was a lifelong resident of Hunt County. He owned and operated a café in Lone Oak called Zelma’s.

Survivors include his son, Joey Bellah and wife Lisa of Greenville; daughters Joan Hilbun of Lone Oak and Carla Richardson and husband Henry of Greenville; sisters Dolly Blumn and husband John and Malinda and Crozier Gowan, all of Dallas; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five brothers, one sister; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charley Morrison, Richard Hogue, Lane Garner, David Kolb, Kevin Roland, and David Garner.
