Charles Barker

— Memorial services for Charles Barker, 76, of Pruitt are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Canton Community Bible Church under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home of Van.

Mr. Barker passed away April 29, 2013, at his home.

Charles Robert Barker was born March 15, 1937, in Hunt County to the late Claude and Lillie McWhirter Barker. He had lived in Pruitt for 26 years, moving from Lake Tawakoni. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a brick mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Albert Jenkins; a brother, A.J. Jenkins; sisters Patricia Mauldin and Mildred Cunningham; grandson Terry Eugene Dorety; and a sister-in-law, Marie Barker.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Barker of Pruitt; daughter Shanna Sides of Pruitt; two grandchildren, Dustin Lane Sides and Prestin Ray Sides; and brothers and sisters Bill Barker, Richard and Joyce Barker, Michael and Lynda Barker, Jerry and Charlotte Jenkins, Larry and Peggy Jenkins, Mackey Jenkins, Joy Robinson, David and Sandra Roberts, Mike and Sarah Pierce, Jack and Susan Haley, Lucille Reeves, Geraldine Zimmerman, Ruby Sprinkle and Andy and Joyce Russell.
