Lois Weatherford

GREENVILLE — Lois Evon Weatherford, 88, of Greenville passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at Legend Health Care in Greenville. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Wieland Church of Christ with Mr. John Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow at Wieland Cemetery.

    Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Coker Matthews Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born Nov. 24, 1924, in Westbrook, Texas, Evon was the daughter of Lois W. and Velma (Crouch) Wade. She married John Everette Weatherford on May 3, 1942, at Henry Street Church of Christ in Greenville.

She retired after working 20 years as an employee of Hunt County serving as a deputy in the Tax Assessor’s office and two terms as secretary for County Judge John Gover. She enjoyed many summers in Gunnison, Colo. with her husband and many friends at Tall Texan Campground.

She spent most of her life in Hunt County, Texas and was a member of the Wieland Church of Christ for over 60 years.

 Her survivors include a son, Phillip Weatherford and wife Shirley; grandchildren Dana Weatherford of Granbury, Wendy Jones and husband Hershell; of Fairfield; grandchildren, Rod Mayfield, Kaitlynn Mayfield, Stormie Mayfield, Krystian Alexander, all of Granbury; brother-in-law Kenneth Weatherford and wife Jackie; many nieces and nephews, and best friend Clyde Terry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Rick L Weatherford, and half-brother, Jimmy Wade.

Pallbearers will be Kim Weatherford, Gil Weatherford, Randy Taylor, Kerry Taylor, Dean Gantt and Michael Gantt.
