Pearl Walthall

COMMERCE —  On July 24, 2013, at her quiet home in Antlers, Okla., the daughter of Ethel and Lenard Newkirk of Como, Pearl Frances Walthall, was reunited with her soul mate and beloved husband, Carol Walthall.

She was born July 18, 1939. Her service will be conducted by Terry Bryant at the Commerce Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Peerless Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pearl had a serving soul; she was a child-care provider. She touched so many little people’s hearts and lives over many years. She had a love for kids that was rare.

She had four children of her own whom she adored; they all survive —  three sons, Dale Wayne Skeen, Steve Skeen and wife Julie of Fairlie, and Russell Skeen and wife Michelle of Sulphur Springs, and a daughter, Virginia Sanders and husband Tim of Moyers, Okla. Also surviving are a sister, Carylon Ethridge and husband Phillip of Cash; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Klondike Church.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Skeen, Jacob Skeen, Ryan Skeen, Timothy Moody, Zack Wammack, Tony Coffman, Chance Massey, and Dustin Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Skeen, Danny Speight and Tim Sanders.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Newkirk and Thurman Newkirk; and two sisters, Aylene Poe and Thelma Pope.
