GREENVILLE — Almeda Osteen Rose, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 12, 2013. She died in Ft. Worth with her daughter and grandson by her side. She is now in Heaven with her loving husband, Jimmy Rose, who passed away in October of 2007. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Royce Litchfield and Chaplain Kevin Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park, Greenville.  

Visitation isfrom 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Almeda was born in Memphis, Tenn., on March 5, 1928, to Major Surry and Elizabeth Jones Osteen. She married Rev. Jimmy B. Rose on Jan. 1, 1944, in Mississippi. She worked as a secretary for Stewart Title Company for many years when they had companies in Houston and Ft. Worth. In 1985 she retired.

She was a seamtress, a wonderful cook and enjoyed her time outdoors working in the yard and gardening. She had a love for people and especially loved her time with her kids and grandkids. She was loved by all. She was a member of the Highland Terrace Baptist Church in Greenville.  

She is survived by her son, Jimmie Rose and wife Paula of Leona; daughter Margie Ballew of Ft. Worth; one brother; five sisters; grandchildren Jeff Ballew of Ft. Worth, Kevin Rose of Bentonville, Ark., Matthew Rose of Denver, Colo., Chad Rose of Forney, Christopher Rose of Ft. Worth  and Jennifer Rose of Houston;  and great-grandchildren Jacob Ballew, Cadence Ballew, Madelyn Hall, Everett Rose and Ava Rose.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Steven Rose.
