Susan Marie Bennett, 90, of Greenville passed away peacefully April 3, 2014, at the Baylor Hospital at Garland. A memorial service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Wisdom officiating under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Marie was born on Sept. 12, 1923, in Petty, Texas, to Walter V. and Flora Lane Fox. She was a graduate of Greenville High School. Marie married Wade L. Bennett Jr. July 24, 1942, in Hunt County.
She worked as a homemaker, but did part-time work for Volk’s, Newman Chevrolet, and Catherine Carr Originals. She was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Marie is survived by her sister, Beverly Lambert of Bedford; four children and spouses, Wade and Margaret Bennett of Richardson, Karen and James Thomas of Garland, Rebecca and Boyer Butler of Garland, and Ronald and Terri Bennett of Plano; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, William Lane Fox and Virgil Hulon Fox; and one grandchild, James Gregory Thomas.
