Dick Maddux

GREENVILLE — Kale McCloud “Dick” Maddux, 90, of Greenville died June 18, 2013, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Royce Litchfield officiating. Burial will be at Pinecrest Cemetery in Mena, Ark.

Mr. Maddux was born in Fort Smith, Ark., on July 30, 1922. He was the son of Marlow Maddux and Fannie Wright Maddux. He married Robert Ann Jamison in June 1971 in Santa Fe, N.M. He was a retired aeronautical engineer at E-Systems and a former member of the Greenville Elks Lodge. He was in “Who’s Who of America,” made a television commercial and was a supporter of the Audie Murphy Museum.

Mr. Maddux was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He served our country in New Guinea, the western Pacific, Bismarck Archipelago, Southern Philippines and Luzon.  Among the decorations and citations he received were the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with five Bronze Stars.

Survivors include his wife, Robert Ann Maddux of Greenville; daughters Brenda Medler of Germantown, Tenn., Brucie Moore of South Texas and Bridget Cole of Bryan/College Station; brother Francis Wyatt “Buddy” Maddux of Houston; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
