James Gipson

GREENVILLE — James Oliver Gipson, 66, of Greenville died April 19, 2013, at Lake Pointe Hospital. Funeral services will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Bro. Jerry Dennis and Bro. Lorenzo Smith officiating. Burial will be at Grundy Memorial Park.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home in Greenville.

Son of Louis Gipson and Onie Patillo, he was born Aug. 10, 1946, in Greenville. On May 27, 1977, he married JoAnn Taylor in Greenville. Mr. Gipson was a barber. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife of Greenville; two sons, James L. Gipson (Jay) of Houston and Jason Gipson of Plano; a daughter, Carla Easter of Greenville; a sister, Helen Sanders of Greenville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two sisters, a brother, his mother-in-law, a son-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
