Carol Fuller

Carol Jean Fuller, 72, of Plano passed away May 6, 2014, after a battle with cancer at the Life Care Center of Plano.

Born Oct. 24, 1941, in Celeste, Carol was the daughter of Carl W. and Imogene (Browning) Ross. On Dec. 22, 1964, she married S.L. Fuller in Celeste.

Carol graduated from East Texas State University with a degree in elementary education and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.

 She started her career as a second grade teacher and was passionate about volunteerism throughout her life. She was active in the Spina Bifida Foundation in Atlanta, Ga., a board member for the City of Plano Swimmers, as well as swim team president.

Carol was actively involved in the Miss Texas organization for 25 years, serving as business manager for 10 years in addition to being a member of the board of directors.

Carol is survived by her husband, S.L. Fuller of Plano; daughters Felicia Fuller of Plano and Candace Pearson and husband Jay Pearson of Wichita, Kans.; brother Bob C. Ross and wife Gela of Plano; and grandchildren Ashton and Joshua Pearson of Wichita, Kans.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be at  10:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Graveside service will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Corinth Cemetery in Linden, with Rev. Jackie Stanfield officiating.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Greg Fitts, Ronald Fitts, Steve Fitts, Robert Ross, Danny Boon, Stewart Fuller and Jerry Fuller. Honorary pallbearer will be Don Fuller.

The family request memorials be made to the Miss Texas Pageant, Inc., 261 Camden Hills Drive, Montgomery, Texas 77356.
