Sammy Sandlin

Memorial services for Mr. Sammy Dale Sandlin, 70, of Bonham, formerly of  Paris, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday  in the  Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville.  

Sammy passed away April 29, 2014, at Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham. Local arrangements are under the care of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham.

Sammy was born July 16, 1943, in Greenville; the son of James Howard Sandlin and Nellie Faye Cummings Sandlin. He was a 1961 graduate of Greenville High School and joined the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably from 1962 to 1964. 

 While stationed in California, Sammy met and later married Jenn Young in Santa Ana, Calif., on July 1, 1967. Together they owned and operated the Kwik Kar Lube and Tune in Paris from 1988 to 2013.

Sammy was a program manager for L3 Communications, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the American Right of Way Association and enjoyed motorcycles, camping and barbecues with his friends and family. 

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jackie Sandlin.

He is survived by his wife, Jenn Sandlin of Bonham; son Jason Dale Sandlin and wife Molly of Keller; daughters Tammy D’An Gatlin and husband Rodney of Azle, and Amy Carol Sandlin of Bonham; sisters Shirley Flippin and husband Rex of Sulphur Springs and Debbie Perez of Houston; and grandchildren Jordan, Caleb and Ethan Sandlin and Rylie, Sydney and Brody Gatlin
