Lucille Stephenson

GREENVILLE — On Wednesday, April 15, 2014, Lucille Haigh Stephenson, 88, beloved wife of Allen B. Stephenson, passed away peacefully in Greenville.

Born in Houston on Aug. 14, 1925, she was the daughter of Erin and Albert Haigh and was raised in Edinburg. She continued the family tradition of attending the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1946. Lucy married Allen Stephenson on June 12, 1948, and then settled in Greenville. During her 65 years of marriage, she was a loving and caring mother who raised four children, was active in Kavanaugh United Methodist Church, the Junior Pallas Club and Dirt Daubers Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, traveling, dancing and spending time with her family at Club Lake.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Allen Stephenson; daughters Carole Linkenauger and husband Link of Greenville and Kay Stephenson Tetu and husband Bob of Alexandria, Va.; sons Scott Stephenson of Richardson and Gary Stephenson and wife Kathleen of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Jeff Linkenauger and wife Cathleen, Lindsey Linkenauger, Taylor and Robert Stephenson, and Elizabeth Stephenson; and three great-grandchildren, Zane and Olivia Linkenauger and Lucy Linkenauger.

A memorial service will be held at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Cotten officiating. A private graveside service will follow.  

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Kavanaugh United Methodist Church, Greenville.
