James Jones

EAST TAWAKONI — LONE OAK — Services for James Moody Jones, 85, of East Tawakoni are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at New Hope Baptist Church, Lone Oak, with Pastor Jack Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Bartley’s Lone Oak Funeral Home, Lone Oak.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mr. Jones passed away May 16, 2013, in a Greenville hospital.

He was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Stanford to the late Conrad and Mary DeFoor Jones. He served in the Air Force as a supply clerk and was a cement contractor. He married Verta Loretta West, Oct. 1, 1949, in Anson. He had lived in East Tawakoni for 29 years, was a member of American Legion in Greenville, and raised four children.

Survivors include his son and wife, Billy Ray and Cheryl Jones of Point; daughters and husbands Betty Ann and Bennie Thompson of Amarillo and Penny Renee and Tony Casper of Point; a sister, Myrtle Mitchell of Haltom City; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Janice Gail Jones, sister Velora Adams, and brother Marvin Jones.
