Sammy C. Green, 81, of Greenville left this earthly life on May 12, 2013.
He was the son of Dillie (Sisco) Green and C.B. Green, born on July 18, 1931, in Farmers-ville. After graduating from high school in Greenville, he attended Freed Hardeman College and Abilene Christian University.
After college, he met and married Elnora Bloodsworth of Pineland, Texas, on June 15, 1953. To that union were born three children.
He served several years as a minister. He was employed at LTV (later E-Systems and now L-3) and Walker Manufacturing Company. He loved reading, hunting, fishing, gardening and shopping for antiques.
His greatest love was his Heavenly Father and his family. He always looked forward to the time the family would be together. Sammy was a member of Hillside Church of Christ.
His survivors include his wife; daughters Cindy Schwene and husband Rick and Carla Weatherley, all of Greenville; son Stan Green of Lone Oak; grandchildren Wesley Clark and wife Kirsten of Roswell, Ga., Amanda Cole and husband Aaron of Krum, Megan Landrith and husband Clinton of Greenville, Mitchell Anderson of Parson, Tenn., Andrew Anderson and wife April of Argyle, and Dawn Money and husband Curtis of Lone Oak; 11 great-grandchildren and another on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy at infancy and Eula Mae Johnson; and three brothers, Raymond, L.T., and Lowell Green.
Pallbearers will be Kody Crumpton, Sammy Duncan, Shell Gunnels, Ken Hale, Scott Oakes, and Billy Howard.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Brady Cook and Clint Stuart officiating. A private burial is requested by the family.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
