GREENVILLE — Rena Sonnier LaFleur went to be with her Lord on April 26, 2013, after a short illness. She was a resident of Briarcliff Nursing Home in Greenville.

She was born March 12, 1920, in Basile, La., to Remie and Attie Sonnier. She was a homemaker and live-in-nanny for most of her years.

Rena is survived by two daughters: Shirley Lester of Lone Oak, and Betty Woods of Kinder, La.; two sisters; Mattie Ashford of Kinder, La., and Mary Marshall and husband Sam of Wolfe City; nine grandchildren: Lance Lester and wife Carol of Royce City, Daisy Huntington and husband George of Greenville, Jerald Lester and wife Heather of Lone Oak, Chris Lester of Granbury, Bonnie Bratcher and Patsy Childers of Arkansas, Wayne Woods of Texas, Robert Woods of Florida, and Eric Woods of Texas; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ozemie Sonnier, Willie Sonnier, Mayous Sonnier, and Julius Sonnier; sisters, Wedna Vidrine, Essie Johnson, and Bea Richard; grandson, Phillip Lester; and great-granddaughter, Heather Lester.

Rena was greatly loved by all who knew her, and she will be missed by her many friends and family.

Quirk Funeral Home in Basile, La., was in charge of graveside services in St. Augustine Church Cemetery in Basile, La.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Briarcliff and Vitas Hospice for their loving care.
