Lurline Whytus

GREENVILLE — Lurline A. Whytus was born to the parentage of Amanda Grant and Frank A. Armstrong. She attended school in the Kaufman and Greenville school systems. She met and married William Henry Whytus II in July 1947. She was the proud mother of 10 children. Mrs. Whytus attended Pilgrim Tabernacle Church of Deliverance where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She worked in the Greenville Hospital District until she retired to become a full-time caretaker for her mother.

Those left to cherish her memories are daughters Ruby Gladney of California, Willie Mae Herron (Archie) and Denise Whytus of Dallas; sons Clarance A. Whytus (Doris) of Greenville, Mytie Whytus (Joyce) of Kansas City, Mo., Mark A. Whytus (Denise) of Rockwall Tyrone McCurdy (Virginia) of Greenville, Robert E. Whytus of Commerce and Dennis Whytus of Dallas; one brother, Lonzy Lee Armstrong of Fresno, Calif.; one adopted daughter, Myra Miller of Virginia; adopted grandchildren Myron Charles Miller of San Antonio, Trina Huey of Greenville, Semone Rene Miller Oritz (Franciso), Darcie Miller Walker (Frank) and Veronica Miller, all of Virginia; 46 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Whytus II; son William Whytus III and sister Florence Hardaway.

The Lord called her home on July 6, 2010; she was 84 years old. Her homegoing service  will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Tabernacle Church of Deliverance in Greenville. Interment will follow at East Mount Cemetery.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Grace & Mercy-Grundy Funeral Home.
