Hattye “Jo” Rogers, 84, of Terrell, passed away peacefully on April 7.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1928, to Frankie William Carr and Bettie Ann (Mitchell) Carr in Lone Oak. “Miss Jo” was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Terrell, always first in line to assist as needed. She graduated from Lone Oak High School in 1946.
On Nov. 5, 1949, she married her husband, Joe, and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Jo was employed with American National Bank in the new accounts department and retired after 20 years of service. She dearly loved to travel both locally and internationally and was a member of several groups that were dear to her heart, including her Tuesday Morning Coffee Group, the American National Bank Retirees’ Club, the Terrell Book Review Club, and the Red Hat Ladies Club. Jo never met a stranger that didn’t quickly become a dear friend and had a generous heart known to all who were blessed to have known her. A harsh word never escaped her mouth, and she was a lady at all times.
Jo is preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to celebrate her life are her beloved husband of over 63 years, Joe T. Rogers; children Randy Rogers and wife Melinda of Houston, Bill Rogers and wife Synde of Arlington, and Steve Rogers and wife Debi of Terrell; grandchildren Mitchell Rogers and wife Michelle, CPT Jonathan Rogers and wife Kerri, Adam Rogers, Jake Rogers, David Rogers and wife Brittany, Casey Rogers and Meredith Rogers. She is also remembered by great-grandchildren Lyla Rogers, Caleb Rogers, and Casen Rogers, and niece Martha Taylor of Houston.
Family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Terrell. Celebration of life will be on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Terrell.
Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Rogers’ honor to the First Baptist Church in Terrell.
